About Amy

I find joy and fulfillment in empowering others to realize their worth and discover how possible it is to truly achieve their highest potential. I approach therapy with a kind honesty that allows people to see themselves clearly and accept themselves for who they are while building the strength to move into who they want to become. I believe that the healing process is interactive and therefore I use an eclectic, creative, and experiential approach to my treatment.

I specialize in empowering people to be honest about their experiences, behaviors and choices and make the necessary changes to live the life they truly desire.

I aim to create a place of safety where curiosity, exploration and self-reflection are possible. My goal is to support you in the journey back to your true self and provide tools that allow you to find your worth, deepening the connection with yourself in order to have healthier connections with others.

EXPERIENCE MATTERS

Like many mental health therapists, Amy Shellhamer, LPC, CET3 boasts an array of credentials denoted by the letters following her name. Here’s the breakdown: LPC signifies that she is a Licensed Professional Counselor, indicating that she holds a master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health, has successfully passed a national clinical exam, and completed 3,000 hours of supervised experience to attain the official “L” license. CET3 stands for Certified Experiential Therapist, Level 3, a designation requiring a Master’s degree, 500 hours of specialized experiential training, and 50 hours of direct supervision and consultation in experiential therapy methods.

However, despite the rigorous licensure and certification requirements, the state mandates only 20 hours per year of continuing education in virtually any subject. So, why does Amy choose to exceed these requirements?

Because she understands the value of experience, Amy dedicates herself to ongoing training and education to provide exceptional care and support in your journey toward healing.
